Prayers

So over the past few weeks everyone, especially me has become really excited about the sonogram on Monday.  We are all just excited to see the baby, and to find out the sex.

I am asking everyone to pray that I have a healthy child.  We, even I, seemed to forget that this sonogram is to ensure everything is going well and we are on the right track to a healthy child.

Please pray that my child has:

23 chromosomes,
1 brain,
1 spinal cord,
1 heart,
2 lungs,
1 trachea,
1 esophagus,
1 stomach,
1 liver,
2 kidneys,
1 spleen,
1 gallbladder,
1 pancreas,
1 appendix,
1 set of intestines,
a colon and rectum,
1 thyroid,
1 thymus,
1 pituitary gland,
2 adrenal glands,
2 eyes,
2 ears,
a nose,
a mouth,
2 arms,
10 fingers,
2 legs,
10 toes,
1 penis and 2 testes,
or 1 vagina and 2 ovaries and 1 uterus
all 206 skeletal bones,
all 640 muscles,
all layers of skin,
and everything in between.

Thank you.

Heirloom Tomato! Right on!!!

So the babe is a heirloom tomato this week.  I love those!!!! I am thinking he/she is a mix, red/yellow and green....strikingly eccentric and one of a kind!

I feel hm/her kick or whatever a whole lot now.

Getting those not so amazing sharp round ligament pains in my right side a whole lot lately, NOT COOL.

OH, I get to buy a car!!!!!!  I am soooooo psyched.  I am going to go this weekend and look for one, anyone wanna help me?  I need a smooth talker to talk down the price.  Too bad BD isn't around, he is super good at that.

Read below, but this one just freaking grossed me out....I mean, they use the word "pickling..." ewwwww....... "A waxy protective coating called the vernix caseosa is forming on her skin to prevent it from pickling in the amniotic fluid."

How your baby's growing:

Your baby's sensory development is exploding! Her brain is designating specialized areas for smell, taste, hearing, vision, and touch. Some research suggests that she may be able to hear your voice now, so don't be shy about reading aloud, talking to her, or singing a happy tune if the mood strikes you.

Your baby weighs about 8 1/2 ounces and measures 6 inches, head to bottom — about the size of a large heirloom tomato. Her arms and legs are in the right proportions to each other and the rest of her body now. Her kidneys continue to make urine and the hair on her scalp is sprouting. A waxy protective coating called the vernix caseosa is forming on her skin to prevent it from pickling in the amniotic fluid.

See what your baby looks like this week.

Note: Every baby develops a little differently — even in the womb. Our information is designed to give you a general idea of your baby's development.

How your life's changing:

Think you're big now? You'll start growing even faster in the weeks to come. As a result, you may notice some achiness in your lower abdomen or even an occasional brief, stabbing pain on one or both sides — especially when you shift position or at the end of an active day. Most likely, this is round ligament pain. The ligaments that support your uterus are stretching to accommodate its increasing weight. This is nothing to be alarmed about, but call your practitioner if the pain continues even when you're resting or becomes severe.

You may be noticing some skin changes, too. Are the palms of your hands red? Nothing to worry about — it's from the extra estrogen. You may also have patches of darkened skin caused by a temporary increase in pigment. When these darker patches appear on your upper lip, cheeks, and forehead, they're called chloasma, or the "mask of pregnancy." You may also notice some darkening of your nipples, freckles, scars, underarms, inner thighs, and vulva. That darkened line running from your belly button to your pubic bone is called the linea nigra, or "dark line."

These darkened spots will probably fade shortly after delivery. In the meantime, protect yourself from the sun, which intensifies the pigment changes. Cover up, wear a brimmed hat, and use sunscreen when you're outdoors. And if you're self-conscious about your "mask," a little concealing makeup can work wonders

Monday's Pets on Furniture from desiretoinspire.net

I just want to share this blog I follow.  Monday's are the best!  People send in their pics of pets on furniture.  I have been trying to get a good one of my kitty kids and have not found the best one yet.

Check out half way down.  The gray cat on the blue chair looks like a skinny Marlee!  And his name was Cooper!  Ha.  Monday's Pets

ITS-IT

So I just ran to the corner store in the pouring rain, no jacket, no umbrella, for an ITS-IT.  I wanted it last night after the Papa Beard's Cream Puffs I got for (K's) birthday, but (K) convinced me that a spoonful of Nutella would do the job.  Well, it did for last night, but once a preggo woman has something on her mind, it will not go away till it is satisfied.  So, Mint ITS-IT I can't wait for your 320 calories of pure goodness.

On another note, doc appoint went well.  Baby's heart beat is 140-150 BPM and he/she is an active sucker...kept moving around, the sound of whoosh, lub dub...lub dub...whoosh, lub dub... lub dub... lub dub...whoosh, whoosh, whoosh made me laugh so hard she had to take the Doppler off my belly.

Lil Belle

So I have my 3rd pre-natal appointment Monday.  Super excited, I wanna hear the heart beat again!

I did get my 2nd trimester genetic screening done last Wednesday.  It doesn't have the 95% accuracy rate that the full Integrated screening does (1st and 2nd  trimester blood screen, and the NT ultrasound) but I thought about it some more, and with my career I have been around xrays and inhalant anesthesia for 7+ years, it may be a good idea.  Hope to have results by the sonogram.
My sonogram is the following Monday and (A) is going to be the surrogate Dad present for this.  I can't wait to find out the sex of the baby!

I went out with (A) and (S) for dinner last night at a wine bar and the food was yummy!  I am trying to get out more so I can actually stay up past 9 pm!  I am surprised that I don't even have a desire to drink wine?!?!  I mean, I love wine, I love wine tasting, and I don't even have the urge, or want to drink it.  I am sure my liver will benefit from 9+ months of sobriety, but not sure that will cure the 10+ years of abuse that I have done to it.  I thought I was a generally healthy person before, but now, I really feel like a rock star!

So my body definitely is feeling the change.  Walking too long makes my hips feel like someone tied bricks to them that are swinging by my feet.  I just can't even imagine what I will feel like when I am actually huge!

Oh, and 18 weeks and the baby is the size of a bell pepper, so I am calling her/him, "My lil' belle!"

Someone notices!

So yesterday I went to a 4 hour 1st time home buyers course offered from the SF mayor's office and got some interesting information and I feel a bit more informed on what I need to do and I also qualify for below-market-rate condos here in the city!   Not sure they will work for me, need to do some research.

I had to pee 4 or 5 times during this class.  The class was held in a community room at the Northern Area Police Station.  So, I had to go get a key for the bathroom every 45 minutes, and the woman police officer behind the think bullet proof glass actually noticed that I was preggos! The second time I went out I said "Can I get the key again....you will see me a bunch today." And she said "Oh I understand, my daughter is preggos right now!"  WOW, the first stranger to notice I am preggos and not just fat!  It made my day.

Other than that, my hormones must be in high gear, because I am noticing all good looking guys lately.  Whoo hooo, my teacher of this class was fine, fine, fine!  HAHHAA.

I met up with (A) to relieve her of her week long care duties of (M) who has H1N1.  He is super sick and this virus in no joke people.  If you can get the vaccination, get it!  She did, and she has been ok so far being in a house rampant with germs!  We went to Magnolia's (a Grateful Dead brewery/restaurant) on Height St.  I had an open face meatloaf and fried egg sandwich  (which I craved meatloaf like 2 day ago....weird) for brunch that was delicious, however, Cooper was not a fan.    He was a fan of the Ben and Jerry's Coconut Seven layer Bar ice cream I got a few hours later though!  Not looking forward to getting on the scale tomorrow...

Tata for now.  Going to hunker down for this huge storm coming our way, supposed to drop an amazing amount of rain.

By the way, great movie I watched this morning!  Funny, laugh out loud!  Check it out.

Turnip

17 weeks and the baby is a turnip this week. SO not a fan of turnip....so I will most definitely refer her/him as mini Cooper this week.

Looking to buy a car, SOON.  I am over MUNI.  I am thinking the Scion XA or XD, small enough to park in my neighborhood, and roomy enough to get things done.  Anyone know about these?

Pre-Registered for my delivery day yesterday...that was exciting.

I got it, the baby can't hear through my ear buds.......so that means lots o babies are missing out these days witht he invention of MP3 players.   I do play Classical music at work and home when I can to calm myself and maybe I will have a baby Mozart.  I wanna go to the symphony for my birthday, and to start exposing my child to the finer things in life, the earlier the better!

Ok people, I am over and out.  Hope all is well in your lives.

Till tomorrow, or maybe later.......

Need your help

Ok, ok, this may be the stupidest question ever, but I am tired and don't have time to google it, so I am employing you, my readers, to help me with this.  Please find a way to comment below by posting as anonymous and leave your name or initial after your entry.

So it is good to play music, and noises, etc.. for the baby to hear, and I am figuring that is the radio, TV, etc.... So my question is,

"Can the baby hear the music I am listening to on my Ipod?"

Thanks all,

Not much to say

Sorry I have been slacking recently, but I really don't have much to report.

No nausea, and sleepless nights are reducing....Well, at least now there is a routine.  Asleep by 9 pm, up around 12-1 to pee, and then up again around 5 am to pee, and lately, falling back to sleep for a bit.

My face is kind of looking like it did in high school, as well as my shoulders and back.  Acne, but not really...just not normal.

I definitely have a belly now, and clothes just piss me off.

My back feels GREAT!

So far, I am having a real hard time making any kind of decisions but think I have decided to stay in my apartment till at least 3 months after the avocado is born and then re-assess then. No sense changing a lot yet.  There are enough "unknowns" in my life now, that stability is needed.

Over and out.  I will take a pic of belly soon.

Guacamole

Well, 16 weeks and the baby is the size of a avocado.  How exciting, that has to be my favorite fruit yet.
My mom is gone, and the house is quiet and sad.  It was a good visit.
A couple of new body things going on.  My gum's definitely bleed while flossing.  A pleasant symptom of pregnancy.  Also, some of my jeans don't fit.  My skinny jeans are definitely on the top shelf of the closet now, and my daily jeans are at the rubber band level, but a bit loose that way. I still have one pair that fit great....the pair that used to be huge on me within 7 hrs of wearing.

Things are not going well at all in my personal life, but I am staying strong and have support from my amazing family and friends, so you know what I say?

"If life hands you an avocado, make Guacamole!!!!"

Adios,

New PT instructor

Well, I am going to a new PT instructor and her name is Gina and she is from NY.  Today, 1 hr of pilates!!!!  She kicks my a$$ more than the last woman!  She thinks I am strong enough now that she can push me.  I only have 2 more months until I have to "tone it down" so I don't risk ripping my ab muscles.  That crap is gross!

I have to say, my back has been feeling great since the back n' belly pillow.  It even feels fine after my hard core workout today, which is rare!  Keep your fingers crossed, maybe this is a new year pain free!  Maybe pregnancy is working in my favor?!?  (Look, I am just trying to practice the optimisim I want for the New Year).

12 Midnight 2010

Well people, I was actually up at midnight last night!!!!  Up to pee that is.
