Well, the prednisone worked! It also gives me a good alibi for not drinking here at the conference. You know conference's are just one big party, and if I am not drinking people would be suspect, and I don't feel like telling the whole national field that I am prego yet.
Went to Roller Derby last night. That was fun!
May fall off the posting this week if there is nothing to report. So far, I have only been nauseous one day, hives for two, and semi-normal for one. Let's hope it stays that way!!!
Ta ta for now.

ER in Denver

So I went to the ER this AM since I woke up, and the hives were OUT OF CONTROL. All over my face now, and my lips were swollen, and my hands were so swollen I could not make a fist without it being painful.
Long story short, they admitted me in 3 min, put an IV in and then ended up just giving me oral Benadryl again, and a prescription to Prednisone, which is a category C drug during pregnancy. I was a bit hesitant, but the Benadryl is not working alone and I feel horrible.
I sure hope this passes, but mom had to tell me that she read that this is a sign of twins. OMG. Really? Seriously?
Well, back in the hotel, and thankfully (A) was here to help me. She has been great and we are ordering room service and watching movies. So much for the arriving 2 days early to see Denver...

Hives Hives and More Hives

So I woke up at 1230 am last night with super itchy hands. I have had this sensation before when I was working in the OR and developed some allergy to something (that something yet unknown).
So I get out of bed, go to the bathroom and start to put hydrocortisone cream on and realize I have hives on my eyes and arms, and then BAM! I start to itch all over. My ears, in my hair, my belly, my butt, you name it it itched. I immediately downed two benadryl (thankfully this is a safe drug during pregnancy) and jumped in the shower. After 10 minutes under the water and scrubbing the hell out of my skin, I got into bed and was able to fall back asleep. 5 AM, up again itchy. SO this time I took one benadryl.
(A) and I are off to Denver today and she picked me up at 7 am. Needless to say, I am one cute mess with swollen eye lids and red swollen fingers. My hives at this point are bi-lateral. Everything on my right side matches my left. Knee caps, elbows, fingers, hips, You get the point. We get to the airport and they seem to go in remission. Not for long! Once we land in Denver, I take another Benadryl and remission begins again. I did however think I was going to throw up in the super shuttle.
We checked in and went to get lunch and I went to Walgreens to get Aveeno Oatmeal bath and Benadryl cream. Nap time in the hotel and I wake up at 530 PM with full blown hives on my stomach and I wanna rip the skin off my hands! I take a bath and slather all this benadryl cream on, take another benadryl and now am writing this horribly depressing blog. So the warning label on the cream states that I shouldn't use this cream with other diphenhydramine products, even oral. F'ing great. So now I probably have overdosed on Benadryl, yet IT IS NOT FREAKING WORKING. Well, max dose for 24 hrs is 300 mg, and I am nowhere near that, so thank freaking god!
OK, so why do I have these hives? I am thinking some type of food allergy? I ate beef and egg udon and seaweed salad for dinner last night. I always eat this stuff, so it is suspect that this will be the culprit, however, something in my body is not happy. Maybe little blueberry (that's the size of the baby during Week 7), doesn't like Japanese food. Well, you can count on this, NO MORE Japanese until the pregnancy is over.
AND, I just read that this is very common, especially around weeks 6-7. Are you kidding me??? People, don't get pregnant. Just don't. I hope little blueberry does push some magic button coming out of my va-jay-jay so i forget all about this!

Stinky
So, people just stink. I mean, literally. I can smell a drunk from a mile away, a smoker's jacket, and women who put on way to much perfume.
Today, I have decided that people just STINK.
The End.

11/4: Hooky
So I played hooky from work today. I worked on Monday which is not what I normally do, and since I have pregnancy brain, I forgot to prepare for my upcoming trip to the conference. I asked my boss for the day off and he was cool about it.
So my day started with getting up bright and early to go to my PT. I got to the place at 715 for my 730 appointment and low and behold, I had another pregnancy brain moment, and my appointment was not until 845. WOW. Well, I got in some much needed phone calls and then had a great session with (J) my pre-natal pilates therapist. We did some new core exercises and I learned a lot. She actually asked if I was a smoker, cause she could tell by the way was breathing deep in my chest, not in my abdomen. Funny how that works, I could totally tell what she was talking about. So it is all about retraining my muscles to work CORRECTLY, and breathing in, and breathing out while doing kegels, and pulling my belly button to spine while staying in neutral spine. Got it? Well, it takes a lot of freaking thinking!!! Prego brain is confused! And she told me not to do the elliptical! AHHH!!! To much impaction of my spine. Swimming and bike it is. I hate the bike.
Doing laundry and went to my corner store. The owner (J) who always calls me by my first name now waited on me and commented on my apples I bought. Since it is apple season, there are a crap ton of different varietals and I usually stick to my Organic Gala or Fuji, but he threw in some Hawaiian kind for me to try and then told me, "this is the last batch of the season, but they are great, you have to try 'em." I called him a tease, well not in those words, but said, "Wow, thanks (J), now I will fall in love with these and they will be gone till next Fall."
Anyhow, been nauseous, but nothing like Monday. Oh, yesterday I drank Numi Mint tea before getting on bus and that helped tremendously!
Last but not least, (A) talked to baby dadda last night and he does plan on being part of little lentil beans life. I am pleasantly surprised, yet still a bit weary of how this will all go down. Regardless, I have all my wonderful friends and family here for me during this amazing time, and I want to Thank you all! I couldn't do it without you all!

11/2 Nausea Central
So yesterday was a good day. I started swimming and swam about 500 meters (breast stroke, freestyle, kicks, and running). It felt super good, and that gym kicks butt. They even have shaving cream in the showers, and q-tips/cotton balls, blow dryers, and hairspray....no wonder it is $100/mo.
I told my noni (Grandmother) and she just wanted to know if the man was good. I had to lie since right now he is not being a good baby dadda. She seemed happy and did not ask about marriage, thank god.
Bought 4 childrens books that were on sale for $5.98/ea. I couldn't resist. Hopefully that is not a jinx.
I also told my brother (P) who was excited and who already knew because my sister (R) told him...gosh, good news travels fast!
(K) came over to watch Sunday night TV (Dexter and Californication). I got super ill after dinner, which consisted of salad and brownies. I didn't get sick, but had to leave (K) in the living room to go stand in a hot shower and breathe it out. She was kind enough to do my dishes as I laid in bed and moaned. I don't think she is getting pregnant anytime soon.
This morning was the WORST bus ride so far. I felt like I was Lamaze breathing, had cold sweats, and was going to vomit any second. The whole trip I was planning my escape from the back door with my 2 bags and hoping that I would not yak before there was a stop. So I never got sick, but sure did dry heave as I stepped off the bus (pretty, I know!). I went into the coffee shop, bought a peppermint tea and a croissant and felt better in about 10 minutes....just in time to walk in the door at work.
I found out from work mommas (K) and (S) that the 12 week maternity leave is PAID by the state, but only like 60% and you can use your vacation/sick leave to pay the remainder. This is definitely something I will need to research, but can't until I tell my boss!
(S) at work today also gave me advice to start using anti-aging creams/SPF because of dark spots that start to appear on skin. Bummer man, yet another thing that momma's don't tell you about pregnancy until you are pregant! DAMN.
Oh and, day 1 of using coccoa butter.......head start on these tits and tummy!
